Dr. Sissel Holloway knew she wanted to pursue a career as a sports chiropractic physician when she experienced her first serious injury at age 17 while playing soccer. As a former professional, collegiate and recreational athlete, her skill set translates with identifying with the athletic population. Her participation in the Sports Medicine Masters program at the University of Western States provided her with the basic knowledge and experience necessary to treat the wide breadth of age groups and sports related injuries. Dr. Holloway’s tools consist of a wide variety of chiropractic manipulation techniques, functional movement-based assessments, rehabilitation, McKenzie Method and soft tissue techniques including instrument-assisted, cupping, and active myofascial release.
Dr. Holloway was born in Svendborg, Denmark and was raised in St. Croix, US Virgin Islands. She competed at an international level while representing the US Virgin Islands in soccer and triathlon. During her collegiate years, she was involved in both cross-country and track and field. Currently, ultra-endurance trail running has become her new passion as she competes in races throughout the Pacific Northwest. The small town vibe and explosive athletic scene in White Salmon reminds her of the Virgin Islands and this is what drew her to this location.
After leaving the US Virgin Islands, Dr. Holloway attended Springfield College, Massachusetts and graduated with her Bachelor’ degree in Sports Biology. She then decided to further her education in Portland, Oregon where she simultaneously completed both a Doctorate of Chiropractic and a Masters in Sports Medicine at the University of Western States.
